Gaucho Health Insurance (GHI)

Other Pages In Quarterly Fees and Expenses

The UC Regents require all registered students to be covered by major medical health insurance while attending UCSB, meeting minimum criteria set by the UC Office of the President. Students are automatically enrolled in the University’s Student Health Insurance Plan, called Gaucho Health Insurance (GHI), unless they submit a waiver application and proof of comparable coverage, and are notified of it's approval. The waiver application must be submitted through the Student Health website before published deadlines: http://studenthealth.sa.ucsb.edu/gaucho-health-insurance/waiving-unwaiving-ghi.

Gaucho Health Insurance (GHI) provides a comprehensive health insurance plan that includes vision and dental coverage, and covers services at Student Health without additional charges. For students with approved waiver applications who do not have GHI, they may purchase at Gaucho Access Plan (GAP) to provide prepaid services at Student Health. Further information is at http://studenthealth.sa.ucsb.edu/gaucho-health-insurance/waiving-unwaiving-ghi/gaucho-access-plan-(gap). For further information, call the Student Health Insurance Office at (805) 893-2592 or see the insurance section on the Student Health website: http://studenthealth.sa.ucsb.edu/home
