Overview
UCSB is a place where people make knowledge. This happens in classrooms, studios, laboratories, museums, and workshops; it happens as faculty and students collaborate on big questions with answers yet to be discovered. Discovery @ UCSB Seminars offer opportunities for students (first year, second year, transfer, and senior transfer) to learn about how this knowledge-making takes place and how to become part of it. Small group courses, taught by UCSB faculty members, enroll between 20-40 students and P/NP grading. Seminars are open to all eligible freshman, second year, transfer, or senior transfer students (as determined by the seminar type), regardless of campus college or major.

1 unit seminars with 10 hours of instruction time.
First Year & Second Year Discovery Seminars/Transfer & Senior Transfer Discovery Seminars
2 unit courses with TWO instructors from DIFFERENT departments/disciplines. Instruction totals 20 hours.
First Year & Second Year Linked Seminars/Transfer & Senior Transfer Linked Seminars
2 unit courses with TWO instructors from THE SAME department/disciplines. Instruction totals 20 hours.
