Transfer Admissions

Transfer student applicants shall have (1) satisfied the general requirements for admission to the university at the junior level for transfer students (see: www.admissions.ucsb.edu) , and (2) substantially completed a lower-division engineering or computer science program of not fewer than 90 quarter-units or 60 semester-units.

All transfer applicants must complete the following courses:
Calculus for science majors—1 year
Differential Equations
Linear Algebra
Physics (calculus-based)—3 semesters

In addition, there are major-specific courses that must be completed:

Chemical Engineering—General Chemistry with Labs—1 year; Organic Chemistry with labs – 1st course; and one course in Matlab. Multivariable Calculus suggested.
Computer Engineering—Introduction to Computer Programming in C++; Data Structures in C++; Circuits and Devices; Logic Design; Computer Organization; and general Chemistry with Lab—1 semester.
Computer Science—Introduction to Computer Programming in C++; Data Structures in C++; Computer Organization and Digital Logic; Discrete Structures.
Electrical Engineering—Introduction to Computer Programming in C++; Circuits and Devices; Logic Design; general Chemistry—1 semester and one course in Matlab. Multivariable Calculus suggested.
Mechanical Engineering—Statics; Dynamics; Circuits and Devices; general Chemistry—1 semester; and one course in Matlab. Multivariable Calculus suggested.
