The Gevirtz Graduate School of Education offers three minors: 1) a Minor in Educational Studies 2) a Minor in Applied Psychology and 3) a Minor in Science and Mathematics Education.
The Minor in Educational Studies allows you to take the widest variety of courses that consider the needs of the learner from multiple perspectives. You can explore topics related to applied psychology, special education, afterschool programs, child development, teacher education, health education, and educational leadership. The practicum courses will give you hands-on experience in classrooms, after-school programs, and research projects. Through classroom and fieldwork experiences, you can start to consider a variety of careers in teaching, psychology, and educational research.
The Minor in Applied Psychology is for students exploring a career in counseling, clinical or school psychology.
The Minor in Science and Mathematics Education is for science, mathematics, and engineering undergraduates interested in learning and teaching others about mathematics and science. There are two tracks in this minor:
- Elementary (Grades K-8) Track: Ths track is for undergraduates who are considering pursuing elementary teaching as a career.
- Secondary (Grades 7-12) Track: This track is for STEM undergraduates who are considering pursuing secondary mathematics or science teaching as a career.
