Financing Graduate Education
UCSB provides three main types of support for graduate students: fellowship or merit based support; academic appointments, which provide either departmental teaching or research assistantships; and both need-based support and federal loans, which is offered through the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
All domestic students are encouraged to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) @ studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa by the priority deadline of March 2nd. Information provided on the FAFSA is used to determine financial aid eligibility. UCSB's Federal School Code is: 001320.
