University of California Minimum Admission Requirements
All campuses of the University of California have the same minimum admission requirements. These requirements are used to identify the top 12.5 percent of California high school graduates and are based on two principles:
(1) that the level of performance in previous academic work is the best predictor of university success, and
(2) that the study of certain subjects provides sound preparation for university work.
Students who fulfill these minimum admission requirements are UC-eligible. In the event that UCSB receives applications from more UC-eligible applicants than can be accommodated, it admits students using selection criteria that are more rigorous than the minimum admission requirements.
