Sexual Violence and Harassment
Sexual violence and sexual harassment are forms of sex discrimination. UCSB has a policy prohibiting this conduct and provides a response procedure specifically for these forms of discrimination. Copies of the response procedure for sexual violence and sexual harassment may be obtained from any of the above mentioned offices and at titleix.ucsb.edu.
The Chancellor appointed a Title IX Officer, who is responsible for oversight of the campus response procedures, and assists individuals in understanding the available reporting options and support resources. Individuals who file a complaint should know that civil law remedies, including, but not limited to injunctions, restraining orders, or other protective orders, may also be available. In addition, UCSB provides prevention training to the university community upon request. Effective January 2005, all UCSB supervisors and faculty must fulfill a two-hour interactive sexual harassment training requirement. To fulfill this requirement, supervisors and faculty must complete the designated online training. For more information about this mandatory training, visit titleix.ucsb.edu/training. UCSB non-supervisory staff members, and student employees are also required to complete sexual harassment prevention training.
