Pre—Actuarial Science (Requirements - PDF)

Bachelor of Science—Actuarial Science (Requirements - PDF)

The B.S. in actuarial science is a specialized degree intended for students interested in a career as an actuary, a professional who advises businesses about economic risks. This degree is particularly suited for students with good math skills who are: business-oriented, self-motivated, enjoy analyzing problems, and think of exams as challenges rather than ordeals.

Combined Five-Year Bachelor of Science and Master of Science —Actuarial Science

The five-year combined B.S./M.S. degree in actuarial science prepares students for careers in actuarial industry by combining advanced mathematics (probability and stochastic processes) with deep knowledge of finance and advanced statistical and computational techniques. As part of the program, students will gain first-hand actuarial research experience by working on an actuarial project in partnership with a company. Please note: this program is only available to current UCSB undergraduates.

Bachelor of Science--Pre-Financial Mathematics and Statistics (Requirements - PDF)

The B.S. in statistical science is a specialized statistics degree intended for students interested in the use of statistical theory and methods in the biological, physical, and technological sciences. It is suitable as a terminal baccalaureate degree, or as preparation for advanced training in applied statistics, biostatistics, or probability and statistics.

The B.S. in statistical science offers two areas of concentration: applied statistics, and probability and statistics. Completion of one of these concentrations will not be formally acknowledged on the student’s official transcript or diploma.
