Student Life houses the Offices of the Dean of Students, First-Year & Graduate Initiatives, Judicial Affairs, Student Life, and Student Wellness to provide a centralized location for students to access multiple services. The suite provides a staff trained to support student success and address a wide variety of needs and concerns that students articulate while enrolled at UCSB. Telephone: (805) 893-4550 or (805) 893-4569. Visit the suite online at http://studentlife.sa.ucsb.edu.

First-Year & Graduate Initiatives’ (FYGI) mission is to bring Student Affairs services to all first-year members of our learning community. FYGI leads university success courses (ED 20 for freshmen and ED 118 for new transfers).

The Office of Judicial Affairs (OJA) strives to create a safe and intellectually challenging setting for UCSB students to live and learn, and to maintain an environment conducive to UCSB's principles of "Scholarship, Leadership, and Citizenship." The office is responsible for the publication and enforcement of UCSB Campus Regulations and also serves as the main reporting point for hate crimes and incidents. Additionally, OJA educates the campus community about academic integrity and provides information and assistance to students regarding their rights and grievance procedures. Visit Judicial Affairs online at http://judicialaffairs.sa.ucsb.edu.

The Office of Student Life (OSL) administers registered campus organizations (including fraternities and sororities) and leadership development programs. The staff assists students and organizations with leadership training and development, program planning, fund raising, trustee accounts, publicity and promotion, and special projects. The Office of Student Life provides a directory of organizations on its web site that lists the missions and contact information for more than 300 campus organizations. If you don’t find an organization that interests you, we can help you start one. OSL also provides general assistance with problem solving, referrals, and personal emergencies, medical and remote withdrawals, and the processing of disciplinary clearance. Student Wellness Services includes both Health & Wellness Programs and the Student Mental Health Coordination unit. Health & Wellness staff works within a comprehensive research-based framework to foster healthy campus learning environments that nurture optimal student development, resilience and well-being. The coordinator of student mental health services is a readily accessible single point of contact for faculty, staff and students who are concerned about a distressed student and do not know which office to contact. The coordinator will consult about a student, provide referrals to campus departments, develop action plans, and follow up with students, staff and faculty as appropriate.
