Parking Services

Permit RequirementsParking on campus requires a valid UCSB parking permit at all times except administrative holidays. A valid parking permit is one that has not expired, is displayed inside the windshield in the lower left corner of the dashboard, and is used to park in a space designated for that specific type of permit. Student permits are registered to a specific vehicle, and cannot be swapped among vehicles without re-registering the permit.

Parking Locations. Faculty/Staff lots are reserved for faculty and staff on weekdays from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM. After 5:00 PM and weekends, Faculty/Staff lots are open to students and visitors. Student/Visitor lots are open to all permit-holders at all times. Take care you do not park in an area or space that has additional posted restrictions.

Parking spaces are not assigned; they are provided subject to availability.

Permit Purchase. Short-term Hourly, Daily, and Night & Weekend permits are sold from permit dispensers located in parking sites across campus, and at the Parking Services office (adjacent to 30 Parking, across from Harder Stadium).

Quarterly and annual permits are sold online at www.tps.ucsb.edu and at the Parking Services office.

Permit Eligibility. A Student "A Student "C" permit allows parking in lots designated “Visitor/Student”. Because of the limited number of parking spaces on campus, Student “C” permits are not sold to students living within two miles of campus (an area that includes Isla Vista and University-owned off-campus housing).

A limited number of parking permits are sold to on-campus residential students. The residential permits (RS2, 22RS and RS38) and corresponding lot assignments are awarded to applicants on a first-come, first-served basis, with no guarantee that all requests can be accommodated.

Registered students (subject to verification requirements) are eligible to purchase a Night & Weekend permit. The permit allows parking on campus Monday through Friday between the hours of 5:00 PM and 7:30 AM and all day Saturday and Sunday.

University Disclaimers. The University may close, either temporarily or permanently, any parking area. Advance notice of parking area changes or closings is provided whenever practical.

Please keep your vehicle locked at all times. The University of California shall not be liable for any risk, loss, or damage to the property of individuals (including vehicles or the contents therein) resulting from the use of campus parking services or facilities. Individuals park on campus at their own risk.
