Financial Aid

Students who need financial assistance to attend UCSB are encouraged to complete the financial aid application process by filing the FAFSA or the California Dream App Application. Although tuition and fees are heavily weighed when considering the cost of a college education, they are only part of the overall cost of attending a university. In addition to tuition and fees, there are also living expenses, such as food, room and board, books and supplies, transportation, and personal expenses.

At UCSB, we want every admitted student to be able to attend regardless of his or her financial circumstances. The University views education as a partnership involving the University, the State of California, the federal government, the student, and their family. The types of financial assistance programs the University administers include grants, scholarships, loans, and student employment. In order to receive an offer of financial aid from UCSB, a student must be admitted to UCSB in a degree-granting program. Students enrolled through UCSB Extension are not eligible.

Students receiving and expecting to receive financial aid must adhere to financial aid standards outlined in The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships’ Satisfactory Academic Policy.
