UCSB hosts about 40 Greek-letter organizations composed of national and local/regional sororities and fraternities, some of which maintain chapter facilities in Isla Vista. Culture- and identity-based fraternities and sororities add a vibrancy to the campus community and enrich the collegiate experience of many underrepresented folks. All organizations offer their members leadership opportunities, support academic achievement, promote community service and civic engagement, and provide life-long friendships.
