Multicultural Center

The MultiCultural Center (MCC) was founded in 1987 as a direct result of student demands, and has grown into one of the largest university-affiliated cultural centers in California. The MCC is dedicated to providing cultural awareness, and cultivating an environment that will foster a sense of belonging and critical education for students with diverse backgrounds at the intersection of race, gender, sexual orientation, class, immigration, culture, ability, and national identity.

The MCC provides the University community with nearly 30 social justice related events per quarter, which includes lectures, panel discussions, film screenings and discussions, poetry readings, art exhibitions, spoken word events, open mic nights, workshops, art exhibitions, and a large variety of musical, dance, and dramatic performances. All events are open to the general public, and all events (with the exception of performances) are free.

The MCC provides students with a safe space to study, create, collaborate, and organize in a welcoming and comforting space. Additionally, campus organizations are eligible to utilize the MCC theater, lounge, meeting room, and kitchen for their own events, and are also eligible to become MCC User Groups should their mission align with our own.

The MCC is located in the east end of the University Center, and is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Telephone: (805) 893-8411 Website: mcc.sa.ucsb.edu.
