Graduate Program

The French graduate program has evolved. We have now joined forces with the Comparative Literature program to offer a French Track leading to a PhD in Comparative Literature with a specialization in French and Francophone studies. This is a new approach to French literary studies, offering students the means to acquire a strong disciplinary core within a flexible interdisciplinary program of study. For a description of the French Track and its objectives, go to www.complit.ucsb.edu/. For a list of the requirements specific to the French Track, go to my.sa.ucsb.edu/catalog/Current/CollegesDepartments/ls-intro/complit.aspx?DeptTab=Graduate.

For students currently pursuing a master's or doctoral degree in French, please consult the most recent Graduate Student Handbook, available from the Graduate Advisor.
