Women, Gender, and Sexual Equity

The Women, Gender, and Sexual Equity (WGSE) department works to foster an equitable, inclusive, and safe educational environment for all members of the UCSB community. We provide education, resources, and support for students, staff, faculty, and community members. Our space and our programs are available to all individuals who are interested in understanding how gender shapes our social world and how we can work to eliminate all forms of gender-based oppression. We value and respect all genders, bodies, sexual orientations, socio-economic backgrounds, and racial and ethnic identities. The WGSE is comprised of the Women's Center and the Non-Traditional Student Resource Center (NTSRC).

The WGSE provides a wide array of services to meet the needs of the UCSB community. We offer fun, interactive, and educational programs such as invited speaker presentations, films, workshops, and discussion groups. The NTSRC welcomes all students who are age 25+, partnered/married, or have dependent(s) and offers programming, campus resources, and an active gathering space for studying and socializing.

The physical spaces of the WGSE include the Women’s Center and the Non-Traditional Student Resource Center, both located on the first floor of the Student Resource Building. These centers include meeting and study spaces; research libraries open to all students, faculty, and staff; and a children’s space and study space for non-traditional students.
