Admission
In addition to Graduate Division requirements for admission to graduate status, the department requires a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution. Applicants with undergraduate preparation that is deemed inadequate may be required to take additional courses.

Optional Interdisciplinary Emphases
Students pursuing a doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering may petition to add the following Optional Interdisciplinary Ph.D. Emphases: Bioengineering, Computational Science and Engineering (CSE is available to both Master's and Doctoral Students), Neuroengineering.
