Undergraduate Program
Minor—Educational Studies
Welcome to the Educational Studies Minor. In modern society education is often thought of as a process that deals with the development of the whole child. It must consider the cognitive, emotional, and social well being of the learner both in school and other social contexts.
This minor allows you to take the widest variety of courses that consider the needs of the learner from multiple perspectives. You can explore topics related to applied psychology, special education, afterschool programs, child development, teacher education, health education, and educational leadership. The practicum courses will give you hands-on experience in classrooms, after-school programs, and research projects. Through classroom and fieldwork experiences, you can start to consider a variety of careers in teaching, psychology, and educational research.
This minor is also well suited to students who have other career objectives but want to understand the institution of education and its role in society.
